I started in construction law before moving into the field — and I quickly realized that the legal exposure most GCs carry isn't from contracts or disputes. It's from the stack of paperwork sitting in a manila folder, the COI that expired three weeks ago, the Workers' Comp policy that nobody renewed. Twelve years working on projects up and down the East and West Coasts — New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Utah, California — taught me that this problem is universal. It doesn't matter if you're running a $2M residential project in Connecticut or a $40M commercial job in New York: every GC is one uninsured incident away from a liability nightmare.

What makes SUBCREWZ different is that I've sat at both tables. As a General Contractor, I know what it feels like to chase a sub for documents three days before a job starts — and to find out, too late, that their insurance lapsed two months ago. As a subcontractor, I know the other side of that equation: the frantic scramble to produce paperwork on short notice, the confusion over which documents each GC needs, the anxiety of not knowing if you're actually compliant. That dual perspective is built into every decision we made about how this product works. We didn't design it to favor one side — we designed it to end the chaos for both.

I built SUBCREWZ because the tool I needed didn't exist. Not at a price that made sense for small-to-mid-size GCs. Not with the focus on subcontractor compliance specifically — most "construction management" software buries it under a hundred features you don't need.
